Dr. Heather Wisdom, PsyD LMHC
About Me
Dr. Heather Wisdom, yes, that’s her real name, is married to Sgt. Collin Wisdom, and her life has been anything but textbook perfect. In fact, it’s her own struggles and failures in past relationships that have pushed her to truly understand what works and what doesn’t when it comes to love, connection, and intimacy. That lived experience, combined with relentless curiosity, is what shaped her into the knowledge she has today.
A Licensed Mental Health Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience, Dr. Wisdom holds a Doctor of Psychology in Grief Counseling (2024) and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (2008). She’s not just trained in relationships; she’s lived them, studied them, and rebuilt them, over and over again. Along the way, she’s earned multiple certifications in couples work, trauma, and emotional regulation, becoming skilled in helping people navigate the messy, real side of relationships and life.
Her career began as a Jail Counselor and Hospital Diversion Specialist before transitioning to crisis work as a Designated Crisis Responder, supporting individuals in their most critical moments. She later stepped into leadership as Director of Quality and Risk Management in a psychiatric hospital, gaining a broader systems-level perspective on mental health care.
Today, in her private practice, Dr. Wisdom works directly with individuals and couples, helping them break destructive patterns and build something more honest, stable, and connected. She also leads trainings and retreats focused on intimacy, communication, and emotional health.
Outside of her professional life, she’s a wife, a mom to accomplished author Shaudai Kelly (SYK), a dog mom to three dogs, and she raises chickens, gardens, and enjoys hiking and being in nature.
As the host of The Wisdom of… with Dr. Wisdom, she brings a blend of clinical expertise, personal honesty, and a no-fluff approach to conversations about relationships, sex, and emotional health. Her style is direct, compassionate, and sometimes a little bold, because she believes real growth doesn’t come from sugarcoating.
Her training includes Grief Counseling, Sex and Couples Therapy, Gottman Level II, Polyvagal Theory, EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). And she continues to expand her knowledge, always looking for better, more effective ways to help people create meaningful change in their lives.
She is licensed in WA, DE, NM, and UT.
Her motto: “Be open, be curious, don’t be rude, know your limits, and stay wise.”
